Chester Home Zone

This project focussed on the regeneration of three intersecting residential streets in a residential community of high density housing, just east of the city centre. The landscape commission involved working closely with highway engineers Peter Brett Associates to re-configure the streets and incorporate shared spaces for pedestrians, cyclists and vehicles.

During the project local residents actively participated in focus groups with the design team and contributed to the development of sketch ideas, selection of playground equipment and landscape materials.  A series of more public consultation events were also key to the design process, engaging and establishing the needs and desires of the community.

The final designs incorporated refurbished streetscapes detailed with high quality materials and bespoke site furniture.  Key features also included a new children’s play area, art features and a proposed health walk.
